The Parent North S.T.A.R. (Supporting Teachers, Achieving Results) recipients are Thaddeus and Latanya Rodgers. They became foster parents and welcomed a young boy into their home. When he expressed his wish to have his siblings join him, the couple adopted them all!

Betsaida Campos, a sixth grader at North Little Rock Middle School, provided reflections on celebrating Hispanic culture. September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. Betsaida has been a student in the NLRSD since kindergarten.

North Little Rock Police Chief Patrick Thessing, along with Ofc. Robert Cupps, Inv. Ryan Davidson, Ofc. Dustin Medford, Ofc. William Scott, and Sgt. Mark Wiggins received the Superintendent's Citation for their role in providing safety training during the District Administrators' Professional Development Session before the start of the school year.

We thank the ladies of the Eta Sigma Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., for presenting a $1,000 check to our district's Homeless Program. These funds will help the homeless and economically-disadvantaged students in our district.

The Board of Education has voted to mandate masks throughout the district. Face coverings must be worn by all staff, students, and visitors while at school or a school function in any school building or facility, when riding on school-provided transportation, or at bus stops.
What a great day! Special thanks to Seis Puentes and local businesses and organizations for organizing this event for our students and families and preparing them for the new school year!

In light of today's ruling from a Pulaski County judge concerning a mask mandate, the Superintendent will be meeting with legal counsel to determine immediate next steps. We will keep you updated.
We thank our families and staff for taking the survey last week as we sought to gauge our stakeholders' thoughts about masks in the North Little Rock School District. A total of 3,915 people took the survey. Eighty-two percent of the respondents said they support a mask mandate throughout the district.
The health and well-being of our students and staff is our number one priority. We thank you for being a part of the North Little Rock School District.
