Busy day at NLRHS! We’re proud of our student athletes who participated in National Signing Day! They include Dwain Hunt, UCA; Samuel Taylor, Arkansas Tech; Tyler Day, Itawamba Community College (Miss.); Tyrese Francis, Arkansas Tech; Dontae Smith, Arkansas Tech; and Aaron Sanders, Culver Stockton College (Mo.). Their teammates Oscar Adaway and Drew Martin signed in December to Univ. of North Texas and Memphis, respectively.

Congrats to Lakewood Team B! They won the NLRSD GT Quiz Bowl Competition. Indian Hills Team A came in 2nd Place! It was a morning of great knowledge shared by students across the District!

Juniors and Seniors who are set to graduate as an Arkansas Scholar will be recognized during the girls' and boys' b'ball game on 2/12. THERE WILL BE A GIFT CARD DRAWING. YOU HAVE TO BE PRESENT TO WIN! We thank the NLR Chamber for playing a role in this initiative!

The North Little Rock School District will hold community meetings on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Ridge Road Elementary School and Monday, February 18, 2019 at Boone Park Elementary School. The meetings will begin at 5:30 pm.

Lakewood Elementary’s Student Council has been awarded $1,000 from Rainwater, Holt & Sexton for their Spirit of Arkansas Award.  These students created “The Pantry” that provides food over the weekend and at night for students who are in need.   Watch their story Sunday evening February 3 at 10:00 on Channel 7 KATV.

Congrats to 7th Street Elementary GT students for placing 4th in the Y.E.S. -Youth Entrepreneur Showcase!  Great teamwork and creativity.

Pike View ECC hosted “Cooking Matters” for their families. Cooking healthy food on a budget was the main goal. Pizza was on the menu this week. Families enjoyed the fellowship while preparing all the ingredients.

This year, a PVECC grandparent, Mesha Harris, asked if we could have a "grandfamily group" for grandparent's raising their Pre-k grandchildren. They meet monthly at Pike View Early Childhood Center. Today they participated in CPR training led by PVECC school nurse, Sarah Rogers.

Family specialists for the district’s Early Childhood Program were recognized for their hard work in engaging families. They received the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. They were nominated by Jody Edrington, coordinator for the Pike View Early Childhood Center.

Tamika Spaight, a paraprofessional at North Little Rock Academy, was recognized for her contributions to the students at her school. She was nominated by Charles Jones, NLR Academy principal.

The Human Resources Department has assembled a Minority Recruitment and Retention Focus Group. Comments from this group will be collected in an effort to recruit and retain minority teachers so that our workforce can reflect our diverse student population.

SITE CHANGE: eSTEM vs North Little Rock Gold 8th grade girls and boys basketball games will be played in the auxiliary gym at North Little Rock High School. The girls' game will start at 5:00 p.m., followed by the boys' game.
