The Arkansas Dream Center is the recipient of this month's Great Rising Mentoring Award! They proudly support the district's students and schools. The organization is dedicated to one of our schools, providing tutoring services, snacks, and showing up in the cafeteria and during recess to help teach social skills to students on a weekly basis.
Jean and Celisha Yongo, the parents of Lakewood fourth grader Alex Yongo, received this month's Parent North S.T.A.R. award. The Yongos are saluted for being active parents on the campus and fully engaged in their son's education.
Dr. Pilewski recognized the entire Board of Education for earning the Outstanding Board Award.
This award is presented when all members have achieved the individual Outstanding Board Member award and/or the Certificate of Boardsmanship.
Congratulations to Board Disbursing Officer Valerie McLean and Board Vice President Natalie Wankum on receiving the Certificate of Boardsmanship Award!
This award goes to board members newly elected after January 1, 2018, with at least 25 hours of Arkansas School Boards Association training credit and must include the following:
--6 hours of the ASBA New Board Member Institute
--3 hours of ASBA Regional Meeting
--2 hours additional ASBA hours in each of the following areas: Finance, Governance, Legal, and Student Achievement (academic programs/needs, understanding data, etc.)
--8 additional hours of ASBA electives
The Center of Excellence earned the "Beating the Odds" award! This award, presented by the University of Arkansas Office of Education Policy, goes to schools that serve a population where 66% of students face economic challenges and where the students are demonstrating the highest levels of academic growth.
The COE ranks number three of high-poverty high schools in the Central region based on Math ACT Aspire Growth.
Dr. Hooper, the Deputy Superintendent, accepted this award on behalf of the COE.

MPE ranks number five of high-poverty elementary schools in the Central region based on English Language Arts ACT Aspire Growth.
Lakewood Elementary is now a B-rated school! Lakewood Elementary School moved up a letter grade, which is largely based on last spring’s ACT Aspire results. The school has returned to the letter grade that it had before COVID-19.
But speaking to their students, staff, and administrators, they won’t be satisfied until they get an A.

Crestwood Elementary School will receive $24,750 from the Arkansas School Recognition Program. This is a result largely based on the spring ACT Aspire results. The school is recognized for being in the top 6%-10% in the student performance category. The Arkansas School Recognition Program awards up to $50 per student of all public schools in Arkansas in student performance or student academic growth.
Tonight, we recognized Baptist Health for being a named partner through NLRHS' Health and Human Services Academy and the COE's Health and Human Services Academy. They have committed resources, time, and staff to this partnership so that the students of the NLRSD will be future ready and prepared for careers in the healthcare industry.
Amboy Elementary School's fifth graders presented at the Regular Board Meeting. They explained a recent math lesson regarding fractions. They also played drums to show what they have learned in their music class.
Chloe Pennington, a fifth grader at Amboy Elementary School, led the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance at tonight's Regular Board Meeting.

Please join us in celebrating Jonah Pulliam, a junior at NLRHS, on earning a PERFECT SCORE -- a 1520 -- on the PSAT! Scores from the PSAT are used to determine eligibility and qualification for the National Merit Scholarship Program.

--Mailing address
--Parent/Guardian's first and last name
--Telephone number
In order to receive the P-EBT card, the student had to be enrolled in the NLRSD on May 31, 2023. Please disregard this message if you already received the card.
Before becoming an outstanding coach, Randy "Coach San" Sandefur was an exceptional student-athlete. He's standing with his teammates from Northeast, all of whom earned All-State honors that year in football.
