For today's #TBT, we take it back to 1991 to the first ever King of the Hill assembly! Court members were dressed in boxer shorts, white dress shirts, and black bow ties. Larry Ross won the crown. This is a tradition that continues today. #TBT #NLR

The Arkansas Dream Center is the recipient of this month's Great Rising Mentoring Award! They proudly support the district's students and schools. The organization is dedicated to one of our schools, providing tutoring services, snacks, and showing up in the cafeteria and during recess to help teach social skills to students on a weekly basis.

The Center of Excellence earned the "Beating the Odds" award! This award, presented by the University of Arkansas Office of Education Policy, goes to schools that serve a population where 66% of students face economic challenges and where the students are demonstrating the highest levels of academic growth. The COE ranks number three of high-poverty high schools in the Central region based on Math ACT Aspire Growth. Dr. Hooper, the Deputy Superintendent, accepted this award on behalf of the COE.

Lakewood Elementary is now a B-rated school! Lakewood Elementary School moved up a letter grade, which is largely based on last spring’s ACT Aspire results. The school has returned to the letter grade that it had before COVID-19. But speaking to their students, staff, and administrators, they won’t be satisfied until they get an A. Crestwood Elementary School will receive $24,750 from the Arkansas School Recognition Program. This is a result largely based on the spring ACT Aspire results. The school is recognized for being in the top 6%-10% in the student performance category. The Arkansas School Recognition Program awards up to $50 per student of all public schools in Arkansas in student performance or student academic growth.

They have committed resources, time, and staff to this partnership so that the students of the NLRSD will be future ready and prepared for careers in the healthcare industry.
