Get ready for the first-ever NLRSD "Literacy Leads to Champions" parade, set for April 24, beginning at 2:00 p.m. This parade will highlight our district's commitment to literacy through our schools, students, and student-athletes.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for the state. We are closely monitoring current weather conditions and will take every precaution necessary to ensure the safety and security of students and staff. We will provided additional communication as needed.

All elementary schools in the NLRSD received the Successful Outcomes for Arkansas Readers (S.O.A.R) Grant.

Mrs. Tamika Spaight and her students, Jaishaun McBride and Aylissa Jenkins, from North Little Rock Academy, shared with the Board of Education some of the art projects they completed during Black History Month.

Pastor Mike Stinnett of Full Counsel Ministries, received the Great Rising award. He was instrumental in developing adult-youth mentoring in the district and has made an effort to visit North Little Rock Academy to mentor students there multiple times a week.

John McClelland, a grandfather of two students at Seventh Street Elementary, received the Parent North S.T.A.R award for his noteworthy efforts to support the students and staff at the school. He encourages other parents and grandparents to get more involved in schools.

The Superintendent recognized the Charging Wildcats and their coaches on winning the Class 6A Boys Basketball championship game! The team finished the season with a 28-3 record. They are ranked #1 in Arkansas and #12 nationally.

The Superintendent recognized the Lady Charging Wildcats and their coaches on winning the Class 6A Girls Basketball championship game! The team finished the season with a 27-4 record and ranked #1 in the state. All four seniors on this team will be playing college basketball.

The Superintendent recognized students from the COE who earned medals at the State HOSA-Future Health Professionals Competition. Eighteen students placed!
Mrs. Karla Whisnant, COE Principal, and Nurse Elizabeth Jones, their teacher, represented the students at the meeting.

Special thanks to Carter Lee and Caroline Jones, eighth graders at North Little Rock Middle School - Seventh & Eighth Grade Campus, for offering the prayer and flag salute at Thursday's Regular Board Meeting.

Dr. Pilewski joined our middle and high school students at the EAST Conference in Hot Springs. NLRSD was well represented by the students who attended!

Students will be released early today. Pre-K students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. Elementary school students will be released at 12:50 p.m. Middle school students will be dismissed at 1:40 p.m. High schools will be released at 2:10 p.m.

Tickets for the Class 6A Championship games are on sale now! Both games will take place on Thursday, March 10 at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
The girls play at 6:00 p.m. The boys will play at 7:45 p.m.
