Congratulations to Mrs. Capri Salaam, our 2022 NLRSD Teacher of the Year, for being named one of the 13 regional finalists for Arkansas Teacher of the Year!

The Arkansas Department of Education made the announcement today through a news release.

“It is my privilege to announce the Arkansas Teacher of the Year Regional Finalists,” ADE Secretary Johnny Key said in the news release. “These educators represent the best in the teaching profession at their local schools and have demonstrated a commitment to the teaching profession. Congratulations on achieving this honor and recognition!”

Mrs. Salaam teaches seventh and eighth grade social studies at North Little Rock Middle School - Seventh & Eighth Grade Campus.  She is entering her eighth year in the NLRSD and her tenth year in education.

Mrs. Salaam will be recognized at a luncheon next month at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion.  Also at this event, state education leaders will unveil the four teachers from among the 13 regional finalists who will advance to the semi-final round.  One of the four state semi-finalists will be named 2023 Arkansas Teacher of the Year this fall and will then apply to become the 2023 National Teacher of the Year.
