The Spirit Truck has been around for 20 years! It's the idea of the Class of 2004 as they wanted to find a way to bring about spirit. And they wanted to outdo the Class of 2003's "Spirit Couch." The 1984 Chevy is still around and is still an attraction. #TBT #NLR

For today's #TBT, we take it back to 1991 to the first ever King of the Hill assembly! Court members were dressed in boxer shorts, white dress shirts, and black bow ties. Larry Ross won the crown. This is a tradition that continues today. #TBT #NLR

The Arkansas Dream Center is the recipient of this month's Great Rising Mentoring Award! They proudly support the district's students and schools. The organization is dedicated to one of our schools, providing tutoring services, snacks, and showing up in the cafeteria and during recess to help teach social skills to students on a weekly basis.

This award goes to board members newly elected after January 1, 2018, with at least 25 hours of Arkansas School Boards Association training credit and must include the following: --6 hours of the ASBA New Board Member Institute --3 hours of ASBA Regional Meeting --2 hours additional ASBA hours in each of the following areas: Finance, Governance, Legal, and Student Achievement (academic programs/needs, understanding data, etc.) --8 additional hours of ASBA electives

This award, presented by the University of Arkansas Office of Education Policy, goes to schools that serve a population where 66% of students face economic challenges and where the students are demonstrating the highest levels of academic growth. The COE ranks number three of high-poverty high schools in the Central region based on Math ACT Aspire Growth. Dr. Hooper, the Deputy Superintendent, accepted this award on behalf of the COE.
