Alternative Method of Instruction (AMI) for day 1 will be sent home with your child today, August 27, 2020. If your child is attending IHE Virtual Academy in grades 1-5, the packet was posted in Google Classroom. This packet will be utilized by students if school is canceled tomorrow, August 28, 2020. Additional AMI assignments will be available and posted as needed. The purpose of AMI is to fulfill the requirements to make-up missed days due to unforeseen inclement weather or safety concerns. Please continue to check our district website, school website, school Facebook page and Class Dojo for additional information. Completed AMI assignments will be due and turned in the day after we return to school. For students to receive attendance credit for days missed, all work must be returned. Failure to return work will result in your child being marked absent for the missed day(s). If technology causes an issue with completing AMI assignments, IHE staff will do everything possible to assist students after we return to school.

Thank you for your patience as we work through the kinks of the kindergarten virtual academy. We will not count kindergarten virtual students absent today. Hurricane Laura is expected to bring inclement weather to Arkansas. As a result, the North Little Rock School District will end classes early on Thursday. Elementary: 1:00 p.m. Middle: 1:50 p.m. High: 2:30 p.m. All after school events scheduled for tomorrow have been postponed. Central Office will close at 3:00 p.m. We will communicate on tomorrow about our plans to hold classes on Friday. As it relates to early dismissal tomorrow, students enrolled in the Virtual Academy will adhere to the class times given by their teachers. Thank you for being a part of our district!

Natural State Laboratories and Park Hill Baptist Church have partnered and are opening a site to provide COVID-19 testing. It will be open Monday-Friday from 3:30 until 6:30 in the parking lot for NLRSD students and staff. The results are usually back within 24 hours. Park Hill Baptist Church 3250 JFK Blvd and C Street

Good evening IHE parents! We had a successful first day of school! Thank you so much for your patience as we work through the growing pains of teaching virtual and implementing blended learning in the classroom. Great news for parents and students! We are pleased to inform you that the entire North Little Rock School District will begin participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) starting the 2020-2021 school year. All enrolled students in the North Little Rock School District are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at no charge to your household. Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without having to pay a fee or submit a meal application. IHE School Supply Drop Off! We will begin collecting school supplies for ALL face to face students from 9 am -3 pm Thursday, August 20th, and Friday, August 21st. Please clearly label your child's name and grade level on the outside of the bags you are dropping off. Supplies should be placed in the grocery carts that will be located in the front of the school building under the cafeteria entrance awning. KINDERGARTEN SCREENING Dear IHE Parent/Guardian, Welcome to Kindergarten Screening! The process you are about to begin will help us learn about your child. We have members of our Kindergarten staff in place to assist you in this screening. Here is a brief summary of what to expect: 1)CHECK-IN: Please come to the doors near the gym five minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. A staff member will greet you and your student here. 2)SCREENING: After you check-in at the gym doors, a teacher will greet your child and proceed to a classroom to do a developmental screening with them. If your child will not separate easily from you, please reassure him/her that this “teacher” is safe to go with and that you will wait for them outside. Assessments are planned for Monday-Wednesday, August 24th, 25th, and until 11:00 am on August 26th.
