The North Little Rock School District will observe the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, January 18, 2020. All schools and district offices will be closed.

VIRTUAL STUDENTS ONLY—
Next Friday, January 22nd, will be novel pickups for the 2nd semester. It will be from 8-3. Students will receive two novels that they will be reading through their English classes. When you come to pick up the books, please bring the books from the first semester with you to turn in . If students are still reading one of the novels in English, you will turn it in at the end of the year with the two novels you are picking up Friday.
If you have any questions, please let me know by emailing me at richisona@nlrsd.org. If you will be unable to pick your books up next Friday, please email me an alternate date/time that you will be picking them up.

Parents and guardians, please make sure if your child plans on attending any NLR Basketball games at NLR Arena this season you are present. NLRMS students will not be allowed inside the basketball arena without a responsible adult. Students must also sit with their parent(s) or guardian to adhere to the COVID restrictions set forth by NLRSD.

Dear Families,
Welcome back. Tuesday through Thursday will be normal school days for on campus students remaining on campus and virtual students remaining virtual. Students who have indicated a desire to return to campus from virtual will participate virtually Tuesday and Wednesday and then return to campus on Thursday and remain on campus the remainder of the semester. For students who have indicated a desire to move from campus to virtual learning, you may stay home and will be contacted by a school counselor by the end of day tomorrow with specific information. Fridays will continue to be virtual Fridays until the end of Q3. Have a great day.

The School Choice period in the North Little Rock School District is taking place now until 5/1! Sign your student up to join us for the 2021-22 school year, even if you live outside of our zone.
From now until 2/15, current NLRSD families who seek special permission to have their students transferred to another school in the NLRSD can complete the process during this time frame as well.
Applications are done online this year! Visit our website, nlrsd.org, and click on "School Choice 2021."

Tomorrow and Thursday will remain virtual learning days. You must log into all 7 class meetings on time with your camera on for the duration of the class period or you will be counted absent. You should also check the Google Classroom for all of your classes to look for any new assignments. Please note that this is different than "Virtual Friday".

The North Little Rock School District has made a temporary and immediate change to its Point of Contact (POC) position for staff, students, and parents to report positive COVID-19 cases and to serve as the district’s liaison to the Arkansas Department of Health.
Nurse Tonya Green will serve as the district’s POC from now until further notice. Nurse Tonya or another school nurse will manage the district’s COVID-19 hotline. The number to the hotline is (501) 240-1753. The hotline will be operational between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Anyone who calls the hotline after 8:00 p.m. is urged to leave a voicemail, and the call will be returned the following day. If it is an emergency, please call 911.


The survey to make changes for your academic learning option for the spring semester will be Wednesday, December 9 at 5:00 p.m.
Please complete the survey if you would like one of the following academic options:
1. Virtual now and want to remain virtual for spring 2021.
2. Virtual now and want to return to your campus for spring 2021.
3. On campus now and want to be virtual for spring 2021.

Congratulations to the Seventh & Eighth Grade Campus Quiz Bowl Team! They placed 10th out of 25 teams in their first tournament over the weekend!
The team is made up of the following:
8th graders -- Lillie Ballany, Sean Beck, Isabela Benson, Paul Haustein, Eli Lancaster, Caitlin Roberts, and Nicholas Sela.
7th graders -- Ari Baker, Daniel Hallum, Kekoa How, Caroline Jones, and JD Smith.
Melanie Holmes and Aaron Watson serve as the coaches.
