Good Evening!
Several concerns have been brought to the attention of the IHE staff and PTA officers concerning our student pick-up and drop-off.
As all of our veteran Indian Hills Parents know drop off and pick –up can be overwhelming. We have worked with the city, district, police, parents and community for input and support. First and foremost we care about the safety of every child, parent, and staff member!
Please follow these helpful tips:
•Please enter/exit from the intersection of Osage Drive and Wigwam.
•During drop off and pick up, parent vehicles are not to enter the teacher parking lot. If you are dropping your child off or picking them up near the gym, you are to park your vehicle and walk up to the designated area.
•During pick up, please remain in your vehicle. Do not walk through cars to pick up your student from the car pick up area.
•During drop off and pick up, cell phones are prohibited
•Be courteous to other drivers
•No dropping off in the back parking lot
•No parking in grass areas around the building
•No parking on Indian Hills drive from the corner next to Kroger’s to the end of the school property on either side of the road from 7:20-3:30.
Please help us keep our students safe.
Thank you so much for your cooperation.
Each month, there will be a different “character theme” for students. Each IHE grade level teacher will have the opportunity to nominate one of their students at the end of each month who they feel have demonstrated the specific character trait through their true actions, words, and behaviors. Congratulations to our September Good Character Students! September word of the month is Respect.
October Word of the Month: Responsibility
Lost and found for clothing items will be located in the cafeteria. All items of value will be kept in the main office. Students who have lost an item should check the lost and found to see if their possessions have been found. It is suggested that coats, clothing, lunch boxes, and other items are labeled in the event that they are lost. Items not picked up in a reasonable amount of time will be donated to a charitable organization on a quarterly basis.
Take Your Parent to PE Week
October 16th-20th
Active Schools, a national movement to help schools provide at least 60 minutes a day of physical education (PE) before, during and after school for physical activity for all students, is sponsoring the FIRST-EVER Take Your Parent to PE Week from October 16th-20th, 2017.
What is the purpose?
To introduce your school’s PE program to parents so they will engage with PE throughout the year. And, to encourage families to be physically active together at home and in the community.
How can parents participate?
By showing up for your child’s physical education class on the day they have PE! Make sure and wear comfortable attire, and most importantly, tennis shoes!
Here is a schedule of days and times of your child’s PE class:

Fathers and Father-figures,
On Thursday, September 28th at 6:00 pm we will be having our Annual ‘Dads and Kids’ Pizza Night at our school. You will meet here at the school cafeteria at 6:00 pm for FREE pizza and drinks. At 6:30 we will have a presentation about our WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) Program. WATCH D.O.G.S.® is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life. Our goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role model and to provide an extra set of eyes and ears.
Dads, granddads, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers . . . this is your chance to have a night out alone with your student in a fun atmosphere at school.
In order to participate, you need to do two things:
1. Fill out the bottom portion of the slip you receive in your child's Tuesday folder and return it with your student (ASAP) saying that you will attend the pizza night so we’ll have an accurate head count for the food.
2. Mark your calendars, and we’ll see you Thursday, September 28th at 6:00 pm. Official WATCH D.O.G.S.® Uniform T-shirts for WatchDOGS and ‘My Hero’ T-shirts for students will be available for $15.00 each.
Sincerely,
Reginald Davis

The biggest change for IHE parent conferences is that you will receive an electronic online invitation later this week to sign up for your conference. The time you sign up for will belong to you. Two days before the conferences, you will receive an additional email reminder of the date and time you have chosen. If you are unable to visit during one of the available times, please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible so he/she may find alternate means of meeting for Parent-Teacher conferences.
The Parent-Teacher Conference is an important part of our elementary reporting system. We appreciate your cooperation and hope that every parent will make a special effort to attend.
Attention parents, grandparents, & guardians! The IHE Homeroom Parent meeting time has changed to 6:30p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2017. The meeting will be located in the media center. Please mark your calendar. We will see you there!
