The NLRSD will pivot to remote learning for Thursday, February 24, 2022, as a result of inclement weather and the pending forecast for tomorrow.

Be safe!

Due to inclement weather and out of an abundance of caution, the North Little Rock School District will close schools and district office sites this afternoon.
Pre-K and elementary students will be dismissed at 12:15 p.m. Middle schoolers will be dismissed at 1:05 p.m. High school students will be dismissed at 1:45 p.m. Central Office sites will be closing at 3:00 p.m.
In addition, there will no after-school activities or athletic events.
We will continue to monitor the weather’s impact on school and business operations and will keep you updated.

We are monitoring today's weather activity. As of now, we will have normal school operations. If there is any change, we will communicate that information as soon as possible.
Thank you for being a part of the North Little Rock School District!

It is Transportation Staff Appreciation Week! We are so thankful for the compassionate transportation staff that are the first district employees many of students see in the mornings and the last district employees they see in the afternoons. We couldn't do this without them!

The "Great Rising" award recognizes individuals who are mentoring in our schools. "Great Rising" was a common greeting used by Dr. Scot Tyler, our former Transportation Director. He co-chaired our district's adult-mentoring program.
The inaugural recipient of this award is Miya Humphrey. Humphrey has begun mentoring girls at the Seventh & Eighth Grade Campus twice a week. They discuss topics like depression, anger management, self-confidence, and jealousy.
Thank you, Ms. Humphrey, for pouring into the lives of our students!

This month's STAR recipient is Brian Kelton. He has been a tremendous asset at Boone Park Elementary! Staff at BPE said Kelton is amazing and they can always count on him. He will assist in any way to ensure teachers and students are uplifted and supported.

Mrs. Karla Whisnant, Principal at the North Little Rock Center of Excellence, accepted a plaque from Dr. Pilewski to commemorate the COE's growth in math on last year's ACT Aspire exam. The school was recognized for top growth among schools in the region.
Congratulations!

Meadow Park third graders Kay'Cee McCleary and Nykeria Brown read an excerpt from Amanda Gordman's poem "The Hill We Climb," which Gordman recited at last year's presidential inauguration. The two students also explained the words and what it meant to them. Good job, ladies!

Carolina Davis, a student at the Sixth Grade Campus, led board members and attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance at Thursday's board meeting.
Thank you, Carolina!

Happy Friday!

Happy National School Counseling Week! We are so thankful for the 20 school counselors in our district who enhance our students' academic, career, and social-emotional development. We could not do education without them.
Please join us in saluting our school counselors!

All campuses and Central Office sites will be open tomorrow, February 7, 2022, at normal times.

Due to inclement weather on 2/3, the NLR Board of Education will hold its Board Workshop and Special Board Meeting on 2/10 at 5:30 p.m. in the Administration Building Boardroom. The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast on our YouTube Channel, NLRSD Board Meetings.
