It is Transportation Staff Appreciation Week! We are so thankful for the compassionate transportation staff that are the first district employees many of students see in the mornings and the last district employees they see in the afternoons. We couldn't do this without them!

The "Great Rising" award recognizes individuals who are mentoring in our schools. "Great Rising" was a common greeting used by Dr. Scot Tyler, our former Transportation Director. He co-chaired our district's adult-mentoring program. The inaugural recipient of this award is Miya Humphrey. Humphrey has begun mentoring girls at the Seventh & Eighth Grade Campus twice a week. They discuss topics like depression, anger management, self-confidence, and jealousy. Thank you, Ms. Humphrey, for pouring into the lives of our students!

Meadow Park third graders Kay'Cee McCleary and Nykeria Brown read an excerpt from Amanda Gordman's poem "The Hill We Climb," which Gordman recited at last year's presidential inauguration. The two students also explained the words and what it meant to them. Good job, ladies!
