February 7th- A/B Honor Roll Activity for 7th Grade students ONLY
February 8th-Parent Teach Conferences-12 pm-6 pm- for 7th and 8th grade students
February 12th-15th -2024 Book Fair Opens for NLRMS 7/8 Students
February 13th-Valentine's Day Dance 5:00-7:00 PM (must have a ticket to enter)
February 13th- Rising 9th grade students mandatory -parent cheer meeting with Coach Sela
February 14th- Student Council will deliver Candy-grams.
February 15th- Rising 7th & 8th grade students mandatory parent cheer meeting with Coach Taylor
February 16th- A/B Honor Roll Activity for 8th Grade students ONLY
February 23rd- NAEP Testing for 8th-grade students ONLY
February 29th- Smoked ribs will be served for lunch

Parent Notification of BMI/Scoliosis Screening
Dear Parent,
On Wednesday, Feb 7th we will be conducting BMI/Scoliosis screening on all of 8th grade. We will be doing BMI/ Scoliosis on all 8th-grade students. The procedure for screening is a simple one in which the child’s back is observed as he/she
stands upright and as he/she bends forward. To observe this condition, each child will be asked to remove their shirt. The screening will be conducted in privacy with only the student and nurse present. Any curvature or “back hump” that is noticed during the screening may indicate the need for further evaluation. If a problem is found, you will be notified, and we will recommend that you take your child to the physician of your choice for evaluation. It is a state-mandated screening. If you do not want your student to participate in the scoliosis screening you will need to let us know in writing 3 days before the screening date. Phone calls will not be accepted.
If your child does not participate you will have to take them to a physician have the screening done and return a record from the doctor with the results of the screening.

North Little Rock Middle School 7-8 is having a book fair February 8th from 12-5:30 PM and February 12th-14th from 8:30-11:30 A.M. and 12-3 P.M. February 1st begins Black History Month. Each morning during our morning announcements, the NLRMS 7/8 students and staff will have the opportunity to learn the importance of why we celebrate Black History and the achievements, talents, and historical moments of Black Americans.
Reminders: NLRSD students will not be released early on Wednesday, January 31st.

Good Afternoon NLRMS 7/8 Family! This message is a reminder that we will begin our new cell phone procedures tomorrow. Teachers will collect cell phones and store them in a secure place during instruction. Any student who does not follow the procedure will meet with an administrator. Parents will be responsible for picking up the phone if it is confiscated by an administrator.
UPDATE: Due to the predicted forecast of icy conditions, all schools in the NLRSD will be closed on Monday, January 22, 2024.
Central Office employees will report to their work sites at 11:00 a.m.
The Showcase + Transition Fair that was scheduled for January 23rd has been postponed to a later date. I will share the date once we get it worked out.

Due to the prediction of ice, the NLRSD will implement a two hour delayed start time for 1/22. We will continue to monitor the weather and will provide an update in the morning in the event classes are canceled.

To assist our Maintenance Department with clearing campuses of snow and ice, we have called on a snow removal company for help.
