The team at DHS is working to launch the Arkansas Rent Relief Program, which will offer $173 million available in Arkansas for renters who are struggling to pay rent due to the pandemic. Landlords also may apply. We have to have 65% of the funding allocated by the end of September, which is a tall order so we’re hoping sister state agencies can help us. We’d like to share the attached flier with school districts in hopes that they will share with parents, or at least parents they know are struggling. The North Little Rock School District will be offering free athletic physicals for NLR athletes in grades 7-11 on May 20, 2021. Physicals for high school students are 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. in the Auxiliary Gym. Physicals for middle school students will take place in the Mini Auditorium and Lobby Area outside of the Auditorium from 12:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Every athlete must have a completed and signed consent form to participate. The consent and health history forms can be picked up from the coaches or nurses and are available at the following link: https://www.nlrsd.org/o/athletics. Save the date! This is another opportunity for our community to participate in a vaccination clinic. The clinic will be open to all Arkansans 12 and older.

We are happy to announce an 8th grade End of Year Ceremony. We are especially proud of our 8th-grade students and their commitment to their academics during these unprecedented times. In order to maintain social distancing guidelines, the ceremony will be held outside on the turf of the Middle School courtyard on Wednesday, May 19th at 9:00 am. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the North Little Rock Middle School Upper Gym. Since this is a special occasion, we are asking students to wear semi-formal wear with their masks. Parents if you would like to check out your students after the ceremony, checkouts will begin at 11:00 am. We will provide a checkout form through the front office to expedite this process. We are excited to see all of our students before they move on to high school. We are so very proud of them and wish them the best in their future endeavors. We will do all we can to recognize our students’ accomplishments, knowing there are limitations that are currently out of our control. Thank you for your understanding and support.
