
On Thursday March 7th the NLRHS Concert band under the direction of Michelle Smith performed at Region 1 concert assessment hosted at the NLR Performing Arts Center. The Concert band earned an excellent rating on stage and a superior rating in sight reading.
On Friday March 8th the NLRHS Symphonic band under the direction of Brandon Wilson also performed at concert assessment. The Symphonic band earned Superior ratings on stage and a superior rating in sight reading.
We are very proud of these students’ hard work this semester on very challenging music. Go Charging Wildcats!!

Last Friday, four choral groups from NLRHS participated in the Region 2 CPA at Sherwood. These groups included our Ninth Grade Select Choir, Men's Ensemble, Treble Choir, and Advanced Vocal Ensemble.
All groups represented our school in a very positive manner, and we are very proud of their hard work in preparation for the event. Two of the groups deserve special recognition:
Our Advanced Vocal Ensemble received ratings of "II" (Excellent) in both Performance and sight reading.
The Treble Choir received a Performance rating of "IIR" (Excellent/Recommended for State Festival), and a sight reading rating of "I" (Superior).

The Debate and Forensics team competed over the weekend at the Fayetteville March Madness tournament.
Here are the results-
Dramatic Interpretation- Dawson Teague 1st place.
Improvised Duet Acting- 1st place was Mary Charles West and Olivia Bird
3rd place was Dawson Teague and Taylor Stewart
Humorous Interpretation- Lucas Bachus won 3rd place
Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate- Sam Montgomery took 2nd Place speaker.
Justin Arendt, Amber Reagan, Josie Zakrzewski, Maria Posadas, Ty Collins and Trinity Lisk made it to Finals qualifying them for the State tournament.
Based on total points won, NLR won 3rd place overall. It was a fun and successful weekend.

Due to the weather, the Varsity Softball game against Sylvan Hills will start at 4:30 p.0.m today at Lady Cat Field. The JV game that was to be played after the Varsity game has been cancelled. Our Varsity Softball Team will play one game today starting at 4:30 pm.

NLR opened the Vilonia Invitational with a 3-0 win over Beebe. Goals were by Sophie Nash and Anna Paige Johnston. The Lady Wildcats will play tomorrow at 11am at Vilonia High School in the first semi-final.

Auditions for next year's String Orchestra Classes will be held during 3rd lunch and the first half of 4th period on Tuesday, March 5th, and Monday, March 11th, in the band room. String Orchestra A will be the Advanced String Orchestra open to students with string experience, while the String Orchestra B class will be for Beginning String Orchestra students with no string experience. The Advanced class is also open to any student who participated in the NLR Middle School String Orchestras even if they have not been in the High School program. Both classes are open to all grades.
