Mr. Hayward Finks Jr., a 34 year law enforcement leader who currently serves as an Assistant Chief of Police in the Little Rock Police Department, will join the North Little Rock School District as the Director of School Safety, Security, and Emergency Medical Services.

The North Little Rock Board of Education approved this appointment at its Regular Board Meeting.

This newly-reorganized role will serve as the aligning force behind the Superintendent’s vision and priority for the highest level of safety, security, and emergency medical services across all 15 school campuses and Central Office departments and functions.  Mr. Finks will provide direct supervision over school safety and security systems administration, internal investigations, school nursing, and the COVID-19 point of contact.  Mr. Finks will also provide guidance to school principals and will oversee campus supervisors and school crossing guards.  In addition, Mr. Finks will serve as the district’s liaison to local law enforcement and emergency services agencies to ensure organized, strategic support and services to our schools and district sites for safe and healthy learning and working environments.

Pilewski, Superintendent of the North Little Rock School District.  “His wealth of knowledge and experience will be valuable as we develop a comprehensive safety plan.  The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.”

Mr. Finks has been an Assistant Chief of Police since 2012 and leads the Executive Bureau, which supervises the following departments: Training Division, Communications Division, Headquarters Division, Records and Support Division, Professional Standards Section, Administrative Services Section, and Crime Analyst Supervisor.  Mr. Finks has overseen all divisions of the Little Rock Police Department.  He has earned numerous awards throughout his career, including Officer of the Year.

Finks holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Emergency Services Management from Bethel University.  He has attended multiple law enforcement academies and institutes.
