Brandyn Kirkwood has been appointed as the new Assistant Principal at North Little Rock High School. Kirkwood, who currently serves as the school's Dean of Students, brings a wealth of internal experience and continuity to the administrative team.
In his role as Dean of Students, Kirkwood mentored and supported new teachers while managing student discipline through a focus on restorative justice practices. Prior to his leadership roles, he spent years in the classroom teaching social studies, with tenures at the San Antonio (TX) Independent School District, the Holmes County (MS) Consolidated School District, and NLRSD’s Seventh & Eighth Grade Campus. Notably, while teaching at the Center of Excellence, his dedication to the classroom earned him Teacher of the Year honors for the 2024-2025 school year.
This fall, Kirkwood will receive the Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Principalship from Arkansas State University. A native of Mississippi, he also holds a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from Jackson State University.
