Harbin

Dr. Amber Harbin has joined the North Little Rock School District as the Coordinator of Science, Environmental Literacy, Outdoor Education, and Advanced Programs.  In this newly reorganized role, Dr. Harbin will serve as the district expert on science education, environmental literacy education, and outdoor education to propel the NLRSD efforts to ensure every student is future ready. She will also provide leadership in the area of advanced and gifted education by increasing academic access and opportunities for all students.

Dr. Harbin comes to the North Little Rock School District from the Arkansas Department of Education’s Division of Elementary and Secondary Education as the Regional STEM Science Specialist.  Before assuming that role, she served as the STEM Coordinator and Professional Development Specialist at Forest Heights STEM Academy, which is in the Little Rock School District. Dr. Harbin’s professional career has been focused in the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and gifted and talented, having taught these subject matters in the Little Rock School District and the Pulaski County Special School District.

Dr. Harbin has garnered a host of professional honors and awards.  She has earned Teacher of the Year at every school she has taught.  She was recognized by former Governor Asa Hutchinson as a regional finalist for the 2021 Arkansas Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Harbin earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Leadership Studies from the University of Central Arkansas.  She received a Master of Education Degree in Teaching Gifted at the University of Central Arkansas and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Humanities from Arkansas State University.
