The North Little Rock School District’s strength is in its diversity.  One hundred percent of our district's English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teachers are ESL certified, meaning those teachers are experts in second language acquisition. Our ESOL department serves nearly 800 students, which is 10 percent of the district's total enrollment.

The ESOL Office serves a tremendous role in serving as a resource for English Learners (ELs) and their families as they begin their academic journey in the North Little Rock School District.  As soon as ELs come to the district, they are evaluated, and the results are used by ESL-certified teachers to determine the best services and language support for these students.  This office also works with families of ELs to fully integrate into the North Little Rock community, and for some, into American culture.

Through Title III funding, our ESOL teachers get continuous professional development to learn strategies to teach ELs and to engage with their families.  The funding also supports educational programs and curricula for ELs and family engagement opportunities for parents, families, and communities of ELs.
