Yearbook Update: The publisher (Balfour) who prints our yearbooks is in TX which is under "shelter in place" orders until May 15th. If they are allowed to open on the 15th, we are one of the first schools in line to be printed. When yearbooks arrive, a date/time will be announced for a drive-thru style pick up. The current "guesstimate" for distribution is the first week of June.

Next week, schools will begin the process of collecting Chromebooks and library books and will also be returning school supplies. Please look for announcements from your child's school as it relates to dates and times that you can return and pick up items. You may find announcements on their child's school Facebook page or Google classroom.
Please check with your teachers if you have any questions.

This message contains information regarding student device drop off and the return of library materials.
All student devices must be returned before the end of the school year. If you have not completed all of your AMI assignments, you should keep your chromebook until you have completed them. The last day to complete any AMI work is May 20th. No additional AMI work will be assigned after May 8th.
**If you are required to attend summer school, your device will be turned in on May 29th.
All devices along with the charger and any protective shell must be turned back in. Per the student handbook (p.38 Care of School Property), careless or deliberate destruction to school property will result in payment for a loss. The following fines will be assessed:
Chromebook-$100
Charger-$25
The week of May 11-15, technology drop off will begin. NLRMS will have individuals available from 8:00-11:00 am Monday through Friday of that week to collect devices. This will also be a good time to turn in any library books. There will be a collection bin outside the main door for any returned library materials. Library books can be returned anytime beginning May 11th.
Please see the schedule below to know what day to turn in student devices. All times are from 8:00-11:00.
Monday, May 11th- students with the last name A-D
Tuesday, May 12th-students with the last name E-I
Wednesday, May 13th-students with the last name J-N
Thursday, May 14th-students with the last name O-S
Friday, May 15th-students with the last name T-Z
After May 15th, please call the school at 501-771-8200 to make arrangements for technology drop off.
Devices must be CLEAN and free of any stickers you've attached. Items that are not turned in will be turned over to our business office who will be sending unpaid fine notifications to parents.
Due to COVID-19, devices will be stored for approximately 72 hours after receipt in a locked room as outlined by the school principal. IT Staff will disinfect and examine the devices after it has been quarantined for at least 72 hours.
FAQ ABOUT CHROMEBOOK CHECK-IN
1. Can I keep the chromebook over the summer?
No. The district policy is that it must be returned, just like you return a textbook. If it is not returned, you will be billed at the full amount, as the device will be considered lost.
2. Can I check in the chromebook outside of the times listed above?
No, keeping track of these devices requires an orderly check in process, so we have specifically set aside the time above for you to check them in.
Technology Department Checklist
1. Is there any physical damage?
2. Is the charger present?
3. Does the screen turn on and is there any damage to the screen?
4. SN or tag number matches with the one that was issued?
5. Are there any personal add-ons attached?
6. Did the student sign out of the device?
Students are responsible for the general care of the chromebook they have been assigned by the district. Chromebooks that are broken, or fail to work properly must be reported to a teacher so they can be taken care of properly. Do not take district owned chromebooks to an outside computer service for any type of maintenance. The devices will be maintained by the NLRSD IT Staff. Only District IT Staff can perform repairs on the devices. Normal part failures outside the control of the student and device damage are dealt with differently. The judgement call is left up to the IT Department.
The costs will be reviewed and adjusted annually per device model supported. If the device is stolen, then the students are responsible for reporting this to the principal.

The Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) has extended eligibility of athletic physicals an additional 3 months. If you had your physical completed and on file with the Athletic Department, then it is good until July 15. More information will be forthcoming on dates and times that we may host physicals for our student-athletes for the upcoming school year.

Beginning this week, Club Eco Kidz will only serve meals on Mondays and Thursdays. The meal distribution will include several meals that should last until the next distribution. Although school ends next month, the food distribution will continue through June 30.

AMI- Week 3
Today starts week 3 of Distance Learning... Students and parents thank you for your UNBELIEVABLE patience and support with the AMI process!
Word of the day is: UNBELIEVABLE
Challenge of the day: Do everything you know to do at 100% so others will recognize just how unbelievable you are.
We love and miss all of our students!

Attention Parents, by this time you should have received your school issued device (if needed) and should be receiving frequent communication from your teachers. If you do not have access to the internet please see our website for information on free resources available to you. There are paper copies of all AMI assignments available in front of the school at all times whenever you need them. The packets are only for those who do not have Internet access or access to a device.

AMI paper packets are available in tubs outside the front doors of the school. This is a grab a go system to adhere to the social distancing order. Our school building is closed to parents and students at this time.
