Dr. Thomas Rogers, who formerly served as an assistant superintendent in Memphis (Tennessee) Shelby County Schools, has crossed the state line to serve as the Assistant Superintendent of School Improvement Network (A) in the North Little Rock School District. This is a newly-organized role approved by the North Little Rock Board of Education to better serve the needs of the district’s students and families and to drive achievement across schools.
In this role, Dr. Rogers will provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to the leaders and functions on the following campuses: Amboy Elementary School, Boone Park Elementary School, Indian Hills Elementary School, North Little Rock Academy, North Little Rock Center of Excellence, North Little Rock High School, Pike View Early Childhood Center, and Ridge Road Elementary School.
In Memphis Shelby County Schools as the Assistant Superintendent of the IZone 3.0/Priority Schools, Dr. Rogers coached, supervised, and evaluated principal supervisors and content managers in literacy, mathematics, and science in the “Innovation Zone,” a subset of the district that provided additional support and services to underperforming schools. Dr. Rogers led efforts to identify root causes of achievement gaps and to improve student outcomes.
Dr. Rogers has enjoyed a diverse career in education, having served as a principal, assistant principal, and teacher before becoming a district-level administrator. The elementary school in which he led as principal earned praise for improving and closing the achievement gap among its students.
“I am excited to join the North Little Rock School District and to begin the work of improving student outcomes,” Dr. Rogers said. “I look forward to meeting with the team of educators to push students to reach their fullest potential.”
Dr. Rogers’ academic background includes a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and an Educational Specialist in Curriculum and Supervision, both from Union University, and a Master of Education from Christian Brothers University.
