North Little Rock School District

The North Little Rock Board of Education, district leaders, North Little Rock High School administrators and staff, and the Center of Excellence administrators and staff will celebrate the Class of 2024 and their academic achievements at the Commencement Exercises on May 28, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center, located on the campus of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. 

Four students in the Class of 2024 will be recognized at graduation with valedictorian and salutatorian honors.  This select group of students has shown an impressive commitment to their studies throughout their time in high school.  

Center of Excellence 

Sang Huynh is the highest-ranking senior in the Center of Excellence Class of 2024.  The son of Tham and Huynh, Sang will be attending the University of Arkansas and majoring in electrical engineering.  He hopes to pursue a career in the aerospace industry, working with leading organizations like NASA, SpaceX, or Blue Origin.   

“From the first day I stepped foot into the NLR COE, I never thought I would be leaving as valedictorian.  I am so grateful for the teachers and friends who supported me throughout my four years,” Huynh said.  “Without them, I know I would not be where I am today.”

Tyler Green, the son of Courtney and Sammy Green, is the salutatorian of the Center of Excellence Class of 2024.  He will be attending the University of Arkansas to study mechanical engineering. As a career, he would like to focus on green engineering in an effort to minimize pollution, promote sustainability, and protect human health.

“I could never have reached the heights I have without the support and cumulative effort of my teachers – including my amazing principal, Mrs Whisnant – community, and family,” Green said.  “I owe the honor of my title to them."

North Little Rock High School

The senior with the highest grade point average in the NLRHS Class of 2024 is Marshall “Towns” Passmore.  The son of Allison Passmore and Brent Passmore, Towns plans to attend the University of Arkansas to study mechanical engineering.  He aspires to be a developer at Lockheed Martin, a global security and aerospace company that is focused in the defense industry.  

“It took countless hours of hard work, unwavering dedication, and a heart full of ambition to become valedictorian," he said. “Most importantly, it took the support and guidance of teachers, family, and friends who believed in me every step of the way."

Bethany Jumper, the daughter of Heidi and Randy Jumper, is salutatorian of the NLRHS Class of 2024.  She is undecided on where she will attend college; however, she aspires to become a social worker to work in the mission field to reach victims of human trafficking.    

“I have been blessed to be one of the top from NLRHS,” Jumper said. “Over the years, I have been encouraged and supported by countless teachers and administrators. I pray I have been able to be a blessing to them as they have been to me.  I will carry with me the things I’ve learned all my life. I am grateful God put me where I needed to be in this season. Excited to see how He uses my high school experiences in my story!” 

Honor Graduates

Seniors who have successfully completed the minimum core of courses recommended for preparation for college as defined by the State Board of Higher Education and the State Board of Education and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 will be designated as honor students. The GPA is derived from courses taken for high school credit.
