New School Calendar, Start and End Times Released

At its April 18th meeting, the North Little Rock Board of Education approved the calendar for the 2019-20 school year.  Creating the school calendar is a collaboration between teachers, staff, and administrators.

\r\n

This takes you to the 2019-20 calendar.

\r\n

Some important dates for next year's calendar:

\r\n

First Day of School:  Tuesday, August 13\r\n

\r\n

Last Day of School:  Friday, May 22\r\n

\r\n

Winter Break:  Monday, December 23 through Monday, January 6\r\n

\r\n

Spring Break:  Monday, March 23 through Friday, March 27\r\n

\r\n

Also next school year, instructional time at district’s elementary schools will be extended by 20 minutes, while North Little Rock Middle School students will begin class earlier. Elementary students will have a longer day in an effort to provide more time for instruction and recess.  Governor Asa Hutchinson signed Act 641 into law, which requires elementary schools to provide at least 40 minutes of recess each day.\r\n

\r\n

High school times will not change.

\r\n

The new times also benefit bus riders, as the district revamped routes to ensure shorter ride times, which also leads to more efficiency.  \r\n
