Message

Dear NLRSD students, families, professional staff, and community stakeholders:

Like many of you, I am concerned about the events that led to the death of George Floyd and the subsequent protests throughout this country.  We at the North Little Rock School District stand boldly with all community members, not only seeking justice for the families, communities, and anyone involved, but also to ensure and promote the treatment of our citizens of color with the utmost dignity and respect.  Any mistreatment of them among our community will not be tolerated.

We are working extremely hard to move our district forward to certify that the breaches in our community frame do not negatively impact our ability to educate our students.  We will continue to work with our building-level and district leaders who represent the equity and class of our communities to endorse that the safety of our students, families, and community will remain one of our top priorities.  We understand that cultural sensitivity must be demonstrated in order for our students to receive a “World Class Education.”

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. left us with these words:  “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” and “A riot is the language of the unheard.”  The North Little Rock School District has compassionate educators and staff who are all committed to the welfare of all people.  It is an honor and privilege that we serve a wonderful student body.  We ask that you join us in this effort of fostering an inclusive environment.

As we  move forward, I want each of you to know that “This is US: United for Student Success.”

Sincerely,

Dr. Keith McGee
Interim Superintendent
