Energy Savings

A dedicated four years-long effort to create healthier, more efficient buildings not only paid off financially for North Little Rock School District but is earning industry recognition for setting an example for others to follow.

North Little Rock School District has cut expected energy costs by 28% percent and reduced energy use by 36% since partnering with Cenergistic, the pioneer and leading provider of technology-enabled conservation services, which will present board members and administrators its Cenergistic Best-In-Class recognition at the October 6, 2022, board meeting.

The Best-In-Class recognition lauds the organization’s success with the Cenergistic energy management program — a comprehensive science-based, technology-driven approach to energy conservation at all levels of the organization.

“North Little Rock School District has created a stellar program,” said Dr. William S. Spears, CEO and Founder of Cenergistic. “Rising to the top in all the metrics — healthier, more efficient buildings; savings; and comfort, North Little Rock School District is truly Best-in-Class. Dr. Greg Pilewski  and board, with other administration, faculty and staff members are to be commended for their leadership.”

The program delivers financial savings as well as environmental benefits from a reduced carbon footprint. Energy not used prevents the emission of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides. According to EPA/EGrid figures, since the program began, North Little Rock School District has prevented carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to 34,432,025 miles not driven or 226,539 pine trees grown for 10 years.

“In the four years since beginning the program, North Little Rock School District has benefitted from the savings, but even more importantly, today we have healthier, more efficient buildings — the best learning environment we can provide for our community, and that’s always our goal,” said Chief Financial Officer Brian Brown.

North Little Rock School District’s comprehensive energy conservation program addresses energy use throughout the organization. Energy Specialist Robert Glover tracks energy consumption at all campuses through state-of-the-art technology to identify and correct areas where energy is over-used. Mr. Glover works closely with district personnel as well as Cenergistic engineers and experts to continually optimize systems and schedules. Together they monitor energy use with advanced technology and shape energy-using practices through education — affecting how each person in the organization understands, uses, and saves energy for years to come. The outcome is healthier, more efficient buildings using less energy — and lower related costs.

Cenergistic client energy conservation programs have saved more than $6.4 billion for educational, governmental, and ministerial organizations since 1986. This customized energy conservation management approach provides clients more control over energy use with no upfront costs, no new equipment, and no equipment retrofits.
