Come and apply to join us in the North Little Rock School District! Applications will be accepted January 3 until May 1.
School Choice is a program established to enable a student in kindergarten through grade twelve (12) to attend a school in a nonresident district, subject to the limitations under Ark. Code Ann. § 6-18-1906 and the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Rules Governing The Public School Choice Act of 2015.
• “Resident District” means the school district in which the student resides as determined by § 6- 18-202 : – “Resides” means to be physically present and to maintain a permanent place of abode for an average of no less than four (4) calendar days and nights per week for a primary purpose other than school attendance.
• “Nonresident district” means a school district other than a student’s resident district.
There are three ways to apply to join us in the NLRSD:
School Choice is used when parents are requesting a school in the North Little Rock School District but live outside of the North Little Rock School District boundary lines (Little Rock, Sherwood, Maumelle, Jacksonville, etc.). Complete a School Choice application before the May 1 deadline and come and be a part of a GREAT school district! NO TRANSPORTATION is provided if the request is granted.
Applying for Special Permission is used when a resident parent or guardian is requesting a school outside of their attendance zone. Complete a Special Permission application during the Open Registration process. NO TRANSPORTATION is provided if the request is granted.
NLRSD employees’ students are welcomed to join us! If approved, permission is granted as long as employment is with the NLRSD.
Families will receive a letter notifying them if their application has been approved or denied. Completing an application does not guarantee admission. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Student-Centered Services at (501) 771-8050.
