Today, we were excited to welcome Rachelle Kelly, NLR Community Garden Program Coordinator, who delivered supplies to help us kick off our school garden project!
This garden will provide our students with hands-on learning experiences that go far beyond the classroom. Students will have the opportunity to earn community service credit required for graduation while learning valuable life skills, like teamwork, responsibility, problem-solving, and the importance of healthy living.
Our teachers will also use the garden as an outdoor classroom, connecting lessons in science, math, and even social studies to real-world experiences. Plus, it offers a peaceful space for students and staff to recharge, reflect, and take pride in something they’ve grown together. 🌻
Best of all, students will be able to watch their plants grow and even enjoy eating the fresh fruits and vegetables they’ve nurtured, bringing a real sense of accomplishment and ownership to their work. 🍅🥬
The City of North Little Rock Community Garden Program, under the Department of Neighborhood Services, supports local schools, organizations, and community groups in creating gardens that promote access to healthy, affordable, and locally grown food.
We’re thankful for this partnership and can’t wait to see our garden and our students flourish this year! 💚
