Late this morning (February 23), a small fire that was quickly contained occurred in the kitchen at Ridge Road Elementary School. Due to an alarm malfunction, the sirens in the building are unable to be turned off until sprinkler valves are replaced. This process could take several hours.
All students and staff are safe, and there is no immediate threat to their safety.
Therefore, Ridge Road Elementary School will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m. today. All students will be bussed to the North Heights Community Center, located at 4801 Allen Street in North Little Rock. Parents can pick up their students at the community center, not at the school. Please provide proper ID to be safely reunited with your student. Students who normally ride the bus will be taken home as soon as possible.
