The PSAT/NMSQT is the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The PSAT is a great primer for the SAT, and even the ACT, but it's more than just a trial run. PSAT scores are used to identify National Merit Scholars and award merit scholarships. While only juniors are eligible for the National Merit competition, sophomores may take the test as well.
Students must sign up by Tuesday, September 14. The cost is $18 and financial assistance is available for those juniors who qualify for the lunch program. The testing fee can be paid to Linda Harper in the main guidance office. The sign up form has been sent to the students' email accounts.
