Emmy Award winning actress visits Pike View Early Childhood Center

Actress Debra Messing read to pre-k students at the Pike View Early Childhood Education Center.

The center has been nationally recognized for its dedication to excellence in education, which includes stressing the importance of reading.

The school says reading aloud to kids promotes language development and a love for books.

Messing adds its important to work with kids on education because they are our future.

"There's nothing more important than giving kids the tools that they need to thrive," said Messing. "So this is where all the heroes are as far as I'm concerned, all the teachers all the people who are doing that."

The school says having a love for reading often means kids are more prepared for school.
