The 2019 North Little Rock football team and coaches were recognized at tonight's school board meeting. This team made it to the state championship game. In fact, they have made four consecutive state championship game appearances, winning the game in 2017.
NLR cheer wins first place at Lake Hamilton cheer competition last Saturday, beating Bryant and HarBer cheer in the 6A all girl division. The team also took home the crowd pumping cheer and best use of stunts. NLR will be competing for a state title on Saturday, December 21 at the Hot Springs convention center at 4:30 pm. They would love for NLR fans to come support them!
The Forensics and Debate Team travel to Rogers this past weekend to compete in a tournament and here are the highlights: Advancing to the finals in Storytelling - Mackie Davis, Milena Duarte, and Gabby Stokes and Macy Knapp placed third in Storytelling. NLRHS will participate in an ACT Online Study. This study will allow 250 juniors to take the December 14th ACT at no cost. Some students will take an online version of the exam and some will take the traditional paper version; students will not know which version until they arrive for testing and cannot choose which version. The results are valid for college admissions and scholarships. In order to take the test, a special voucher is required. If your would like your student to participate in this study, please direct them to complete the form titled: ACT Online Study: December 14 that was sent to their school email account.

The NLRHS EAST Initiative students have been working to re-establish the NLRHS Memorial Wall to remember and honor students who passed away while in high school. The previous memorial wall became inaccessible with the construction of the new high school. With the help of a school board grant, the students have been able to replace some of the memorial plaques; however, there are still some former students whose names are not on the wall. There will be a spirit bus to Shreveport for Friday's game against Catholic (Baton Rouge). The bus will cost $50.00 to ride, and this includes your game ticket. All riders must be an adult or must be accompanied by an adult. All riders are responsible for their own meals. The bus will leave at 2:00 p.m. Friday from the visitor's bus parking area of NLRHS Stadium. It will return after the game this Friday night. Those interested can purchase their tickets at the Athletic Office by the end of the day Thursday. Anyone that would like to pre-purchase tickets to the game can do so in the Athletic Office until the close of business on Thursday. Tickets here are $10.00, and tickets in Shreveport are $15.00. Around noon, a fire alarm sounded at NLRHS. Students and staff immediately evacuated the building. Emergency officials responded and found it to be a false alarm. After receiving the all clear, students and staff re-entered the building. Classes have resumed.

The North Little Rock High School Theatre Arts Department will present “Holiday Highlights,” a holiday dance concert, on December 6th at 6:30 PM in the North Little Rock High School Performing Arts Center. The concert features performances by the NLRHS Dance Troupe and Theatre Dance I-IV classes. This will be the 42nd dance concert for the NLRHS Dance Program. Representative French Hill of Arkansas and Representative Virginia Foxx of North Carolina toured NLR High School's new conversion charter - the Center of Excellence. Foxx, chair of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce was interested in seeing firsthand the roles that community, college and industry partnerships are playing in the COE.
NLRMS students who have not completed the scheduling process for the Center of Excellence for the 17-18 school year can do so on April 4 from 9:30-11:30 in the 7/8th Grade Media Center.
