Instead of naming a “Player of the Week,” the coaching staff and seniors chose to give the game ball to Coach Jonathan Calvin and to dedicate last Friday’s game to him. Coach Calvin’s father passed away on Friday, and he was unable to attend the game. Our thoughts and prayers are with Coach Calvin and his family. Our Charging Wildcats defeated the Cabot Panthers, 37-36. This electrifying game marked the end of the regular season. Next up is playoffs! The team has a bye week and will be gearing up for a matchup against the winner of the Springdale Har-Ber versus Little Rock Central game. Let’s go, Charging Wildcats!

The NLRHS EAST Initiative students have been working to re-establish the NLRHS Memorial Wall to remember and honor students who passed away while in high school. Thanks to a generous partnership with Net Generation, all K-5 students at Boone Park Elementary completed a 6 week introduction to tennis. For many students this was their first time holding a racquet, and by the end of the unit, 4th and 5th grade students were rallying across the net! They also studied tennis professionals such as Arthur Ashe and Serena Williams, and participated in a Q&A Skype session with a local tennis professional. It was a such a success in our Physical Education program, Coach McColey agreed to offer after-school tennis clinics for interested students in Spring 2019. Thank you, Net Generation for investing in our students!

Recently, the North Little Rock Board of Education selected Hannah Chambers to fill the vacated Zone 5 member's position. As part of this process, the Board sought legal advice from the Arkansas School Board Association, in accordance with previous circumstances similar to this situation. After seeking further clarification, the Arkansas School Board Association determined their previous stance was incorrect and advised the North Little Rock Board of Education to rescind their selection of Hannah Chambers. Immediately upon notification from legal counsel, the North Little Rock Board of Education called a meeting and rescinded their selection and will begin the Zone 5 selection process as outlined in the Arkansas Educational Statute 6-13-611 section (c).
