The North Little Rock School District has made a temporary and immediate change to its Point of Contact (POC) position for staff, students, and parents to report positive COVID-19 cases and to serve as the district’s liaison to the Arkansas Department of Health.
Nurse Tonya Green will serve as the district’s POC from now until further notice. Nurse Tonya or another school nurse will manage the district’s COVID-19 hotline. The number to the hotline is (501) 240-1753. The hotline will be operational between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Anyone who calls the hotline after 8:00 p.m. is urged to leave a voicemail, and the call will be returned the following day. If it is an emergency, please call 911.

Congratulations to Tavion Akins for being named "Player of the Week" by Pulaski County Farm Bureau! This is for Akins' stellar performance in the quarterfinal matchup game against LR Catholic (Nov. 20).
Akins, a junior, had four tackles, three assists, two tackles for losses, two QB pressures, two interceptions, and one onside kick recovery. The Charging Wildcats defeated the LR Catholic Rockets, 34-7.

Congratulations to Liam Selhorst for being named "Player of the Week" by Pulaski County Farm Bureau!
Selhorst, a senior, had average punt of 35 yards, six out of six for the extra point, and two out of three for the field goal. The Charging Wildcats defeated the Cabot Panthers, 48-31.
After completing the regular season with an 8-1 record, the Charging Wildcats now head into the playoffs. Friday's game will be at Charging Wildcat Stadium against Fort Smith Southside.

Congratulations to Chris Jefferson for being named "Player of the Week" by Pulaski County Farm Bureau! This is the second time this season that Jefferson has received this honor.
Jefferson, a senior, had four receptions for 81 yards, three rushes for 30 yards, and three returns for 56 yards, averaging 18.7 yards per return. He even scored a touchdown!

Congratulations to Davian Vayson for being named "Player of the Week" by Pulaski County Farm Bureau! This is the second time this season that Vayson has received this honor.
Vayson, a junior, had two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery with a scoop and a score, an interception, six tackles, three tackles for losses, a QB pressure, and graded out at 119%! The undefeated Charging Wildcats thumped the Northside Grizzlies, 45-7.

Jefferson, a senior, had six receptions for 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns! He had 235 all-purpose yards. The Charging Wildcats trounced the LR Catholic Rockets, 49-10.

Congratulations to Aaron Sims for being named "Player of the Week" by Pulaski County Farm Bureau!
Sims, a senior, had 198 yards on 47 attempts. He also scored two touchdowns! The Charging Wildcats survived in a thriller against the Conway Wampus Cats, 39-37.
Friday's matchup against the LR Southwest Gryphons has been cancelled. However, please wear your NLR gear on Friday in honor of homecoming! The Charging Wildcats will be back in action on October 16 against the LR Catholic Rockets at War Memorial Stadium.

We have been approved to have Virtual Learning Fridays! This will begin on 10/23.
In summary, attending school on Fridays is optional. Students enrolled in face-to-face instruction will have the option of completing assignments either in person or at home. Virtual students will complete assignments as normal. These assignments will be completed asynchronously, which means there will be no live instruction. No new material will be introduced. Attendance will still be taken.

If you're interested in attending football games, tickets will be sold on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the ticket booth on the home side. We will have limited seating, so you make the decision as soon as possible if you plan on attending.
Tickets for volleyball games will be sold at the door starting one hour before the first game. JV and middle school game tickets will be sold on both sides of the stadium one hour before kickoff of the first game.

The Charging Wildcats varsity football team will travel to Springdale Har-Ber on Friday, September 4. Game time is 7:00 pm. Tickets will be on sale at the NLRHS Stadium home side ticket booth starting today from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Parents and fans will only be able to purchase tickets from NLRHS. No tickets will be sold to visitors at Har-Ber. We have a limited number of tickets for NLR fans. Tickets will be sold Wednesday, 9-2-20 and Thursday, 9-3-20 or until sold out. We will sell two (2) tickets per person. Tickets are $5.00.

Hurricane Laura is expected to bring inclement weather to Arkansas. As a result, the North Little Rock School District will end classes early on Thursday.

The NLR Board of Education voted to approve new start and end times for our schools. The times are as follows:
Elementary: 7:50 a.m.-2:35 p.m.
Middle: 8:10 a.m.-3:25 p.m.

Pre-K times will remain the same: 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Schools will open to students who ride buses first. The following are drop off times for students who drive, walk, or are dropped off.

If you want your child to participate in our Virtual Academy, the deadline to register the student is Friday, August 7 at noon. This is one form per child. For instance, if you have two children who will participate in the Virtual Academy, then you must complete two forms. And so on.

The Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) has extended eligibility of athletic physicals an additional 3 months. If you had your physical completed and on file with the Athletic Department, then it is good until July 15. More information will be forthcoming on dates and times that we may host physicals for our student-athletes for the upcoming school year.

Quarter 3 Report Cards for Grades 1-12 have been uploaded into Home Access Center, or HAC.. These grades are reflective of work completed through March 12th, our last day of on-campus classes.

NLR cheer wins first place at Lake Hamilton cheer competition last Saturday, beating Bryant and HarBer cheer in the 6A all girl division. The team also took home the crowd pumping cheer and best use of stunts.
NLR will be competing for a state title on Saturday, December 21 at the Hot Springs convention center at 4:30 pm. They would love for NLR fans to come support them!

A jam packed day for NLR Athletics. Four seniors have signed letters of intent to play on the collegiate level.
Softball: Lauren Lester will be playing at Ouachita Baptist University. Katelynn McMahan will be playing at UCA. Madison Morrissey will be playing at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

The 6A Baseball Championship game scheduled for Saturday, May 18 at 10:00 am has been cancelled by the University of AR due to the weather. This game has been rescheduled for Monday, May 20 at 10:00 am.

Congratulations to NLRHS Charging Wildcats DJ Smith and Tracy Steele who played in this weekend’s Real Deal in the Rock Tournament. The two, who play for the Arkansas Hawks, helped their team win the 16 and under championship. Both played key roles in getting their team to the championship game by scoring game-winning three-pointers over the Woodz Elite. Way to go, DJ and Tracy!

Busy day at NLRHS! We’re proud of our student athletes who participated in National Signing Day! They include Dwain Hunt, UCA; Samuel Taylor, Arkansas Tech; Tyler Day, Itawamba Community College (Miss.); Tyrese Francis, Arkansas Tech; Dontae Smith, Arkansas Tech; and Aaron Sanders, Culver Stockton College (Mo.). Their teammates Oscar Adaway and Drew Martin signed in December to Univ. of North Texas and Memphis, respectively.

The NLR Ladycats played their first game of an invitational tournament in Germantown, TN. this afternoon. After a close game, the North Little Rock Varsity Girls lost to Arlington High School’s Varsity Girls 48-42. They play again tomorrow at 4pm against Houston High School.

The NLR Varsity Girls won against Jonesboro this afternoon 47-63. MVP was Kennady Tucker. They finished 3rd place in the Dandra Thomas invitational tournament.
