This is National School Breakfast Week! This year's theme, “Score Big with School Breakfast,” reminds us all that school breakfast provides a healthy and energizing start to the day for students. Studies have shown that students who participated in the school breakfast program reached higher levels of achievement in reading and math, along with higher scores on standardized tests.
The NLRSD Child Nutrition Department will celebrate this week by giving away prizes to students eating breakfast in the cafeteria.

Dear NLR Academy Parents and Caregivers, Thank you for being a part of the North Little Rock School District. We are so thankful that you have entrusted your child into our care. We do not take this opportunity lightly. This call is to explain this year's Parent-Teacher Conference format. Conferences will take place on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, and Thursday, February 11, 2021, from 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on both days. By this time, you should have received a call from your student's first period teacher in regards to conferences. In an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, all conferences will take place virtually, either on Zoom or Google Meet. While the conferences will be different, you can expect the same results. The school calendar indicates that February 9, 2021, and February I l, 2021, are Remote Learning Days, which means that students can take part in instruction from their home. While we encourage the students to engage in classes at home, we understand that some families may elect to send their students to campus in the event there is a lack of internet access or there is a need for specialized services. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher. Again, we thank you for being a part of the North Little Rock School District. We are proud to partner with you to ensure your student succeeds.

Dear Parent(s) of North Little Rock Academy, We (NLR Academy Staff) would like for our students to have a successful year, in spite of the educational changes caused by the pandemic. Our staff is working hard to meet all safety precautions outlined by the CDC and NLRSD. At this current time, we have noticed an increase in student's absences. If a student exceeds the allotted amount of unexcused absences, in a school year they may not receive credit for a particular course. With so many things going on in the world today, we would like the chance to decrease the worries of your child’s educational needs. The 2nd 9 weeks of this school year will begin on October 20, 2020. We would like to see your student on site in the classroom setting on that day. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to give us a call at (501)955-3600.

Parents,
This survey is to declare your academic option for the spring semester. Please complete this survey if your student is virtual and wish to remain virtual, virtual and would like to return to school, or at school and would like to go virtual. The survey will close on November 9th.

We understand that many of our families have been negatively affected by this pandemic and are unable to purchase uniforms for their students. Good afternoon. This is information that is going out to seniors. This is information for you to share with them in the event they will be contacting you.
Good Standing Defined
A senior in good standing has a passing grade in all classes necessary to complete graduation requirements, has completed any needed credit recovery courses, and has completed any needed concurrent credit courses. A senior in good standing must have 23 credits when the third nine weeks grades are used as a semester grade and credit is awarded.
Determination of Good Standing
Each senior will be personally contacted by their Guidance Counselor and informed if they have met the criteria for Good Standing. This conversation will be documented via email and sent with a read receipt.
Seniors Not in Good Standing & Options during this contact:
1. Students who failed a required course during the third nine weeks will be enrolled in APEX credit recovery. Credit recovery work must be complete by May 8th.
2. Students who passed the third nine weeks but are dissatisfied with their grade may choose to continue with AMI work for the fourth nine weeks in an attempt to raise their average. HOWEVER, if a student makes this choice, they must complete the fourth nine weeks or risk earning a failing grade. End date for students choosing this option will be May 8th.
Seniors Who Are Enrolled in AP Courses
Students in an AP course will be asked if they would like to continue to prepare for the exam with their AP teacher. If the student chooses to lock-in their third nine weeks grade, the AP test prep will not positively or negatively impact that grade. Students will receive weighted credit for AP courses regardless of taking AP exams. AP exams will be a modified version taken at home.
Concurrent Credit Classes
Since concurrent classes are for college credit, students will follow the UAPTC timeline for when a class is complete. Any remaining balance should be paid directly to UAPTC.
Hard Copies of Transcripts
Seniors who must have a hard copy of a transcript should email Mrs. Leger to put in a request. The transcript may be picked up the following day.
First option-We can mail the transcript to the student.
Second option-Pick up process.
The pickup process is as follows:
Upon arriving at the school, a student should call 771-8107, the transcript will be delivered to the student outside the building. Only the student whose name appears on the transcript or their designee may pick up the transcript. If a designee is sent, the student should include this person’s name in their email request. Anyone picking up a transcript MUST show an ID.
Final Transcripts
If the school remains closed, a google form will be sent out for seniors to complete indicating where their final transcripts should be sent.
All seniors will be excused from school beginning with April 20, 2020 if they have completed the requirements listed above.
Cap & Gown/Graduation Orders Pickup
Cap and gown and other items ordered for graduation can be picked up on Friday, April 3 in front of the arena. It will be a curbside pick-up system so there will be no need to leave your vehicle. Call Josten’s Customer Service at 1-800-567-8367 to pay your balance or to inquire about how much is still owed. You may also pay in cash at the time of pick-up.

Good Evening Parents of North Little Rock Academy, we hope you all have enjoyed Winter Break. All classes will resume tomorrow morning January 7th. We look forward to seeing all of your smiling faces.

Winter Break begins December 23rd and ends on January 6th. All classes will resume on January 7th. Happy Holidays from the NLR Academy Family to yours.

All classes will resume on December 2nd.

Dear Student, Parent, and/or Guardian of NLR Academy;
After careful consideration, North Little Rock High School has determined that classification of students based on the number of years they have been in high school is a practice that should not continue. The practice has caused confusion on the part of both the student and their family leading to misunderstandings regarding the graduation status of credit deficient students.
You are receiving this letter because you are either a student who is credit deficient based on current grade level or the parent/guardian on one.
Beginning in November 2019, students whose cumulative credit total is insufficient for the grade in which they are classified, will be re-classified to the appropriate grade level. For example, if a student is currently listed as a junior but has a cumulative credit total of less than 11, that student will be re-classified as a sophomore.
To be considered on-time for graduation, students must have earned the following number of credits by the end of the school year to move to the next grade classification:
Sophomore – 5.5 cumulative credits
Junior – 11 cumulative credits
Senior – 16.5 cumulative credits
After this initial correction in November 2019, grade classification will only change once a full school year has been completed.

Come and join us at the School Safety Symposium, scheduled for 11/12 at the NLRHS Performing Arts Center. You will hear from district leaders about our commitment to keep students and staff safe.
There will be a moderated Question & Answer session. We ask that you email your questions beforehand to safeschools@nlrsd.org.
See you there!

Good Evening Parents of North Little Rock Academy,
This is a friendly reminder school will not be in session tomorrow due to Parent Teacher Conferences. We will resume classes on Friday, September 20, 2019.

In light of the violent threat made against schools in Arkansas, the North Little Rock School District is taking extra steps to ensure that each campus remains a safe and healthy environment for everyone. We maintain communication with law enforcement, who will have a presence at every campus on Thursday, August 29. The safety of our students and staff is top priority in the North Little Rock School District.

After assessing transportation issues during the first week of school, the district has adjusted school start and end times. The new times will take effect on 9/3.
Elementary: 7:50 a.m.-2:40 p.m.
Middle: 8:00 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
High: 8:25 a.m.-3:40 p.m.
(Note that middle school times did not change.)
Thank you for your understanding.

The 2019-20 Parent-Student Handbook is now available at the link below. There have been updates made to it since last school year. Please read the handbook and become familiar with our policies, including expectations when it comes to conduct.
