The North Little Rock School District has made a temporary and immediate change to its Point of Contact (POC) position for staff, students, and parents to report positive COVID-19 cases and to serve as the district’s liaison to the Arkansas Department of Health.
Nurse Tonya Green will serve as the district’s POC from now until further notice. Nurse Tonya or another school nurse will manage the district’s COVID-19 hotline. The number to the hotline is (501) 240-1753. The hotline will be operational between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Anyone who calls the hotline after 8:00 p.m. is urged to leave a voicemail, and the call will be returned the following day. If it is an emergency, please call 911.
The survey to make changes for your academic learning option for the spring semester will be Wednesday, December 9 at 5:00 p.m.

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month. The North Little Rock School District is recognizing this month with a series of initiatives to make our students and families aware of dyslexia and the services that we provide.

We have been approved to have Virtual Learning Fridays! This will begin on 10/23.
In summary, attending school on Fridays is optional. Students enrolled in face-to-face instruction will have the option of completing assignments either in person or at home. Virtual students will complete assignments as normal. These assignments will be completed asynchronously, which means there will be no live instruction. No new material will be introduced. Attendance will still be taken.

Please take a look at our safety procedures as it relates to attending our sporting events this fall. We have implemented changes to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and fans.
If you're interested in attending football games, tickets will be sold on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the ticket booth on the home side. We will have limited seating, so you make the decision as soon as possible if you plan on attending.
Tickets for volleyball games will be sold at the door starting one hour before the first game. JV and middle school game tickets will be sold on both sides of the stadium one hour before kickoff of the first game.

The NLR Board of Education voted to approve new start and end times for our schools. The times are as follows:
Elementary: 7:50 a.m.-2:35 p.m.
Middle: 8:10 a.m.-3:25 p.m.
High: 8:40 a.m.-3:55 p.m.
Pre-K times will remain the same: 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Schools will open to students who ride buses first. The following are drop off times for students who drive, walk, or are dropped off.
Elementary: 7:20 a.m.
Middle: 7:40 a.m.
High: 7:55 a.m.
Last night, the North Little Rock Board of Education voted not to mandate the uniform policy for the 2020-2021 school year. Our elementary and middle school students wear uniforms.
We know that some families have already purchased uniforms for the new school year. Feel free to send your student to school in that apparel.
We understand that many of our families have been negatively affected by this pandemic and are unable to purchase uniforms for their students. Please be aware that teachers and administrators will expect students to report to school in presentable, distraction-free attire. Those who do not will be subject to disciplinary actions.

In his daily news conference, Governor Asa Hutchinson announced that schools will remain closed for remainder of the 2019-20 school year. However, online instruction WILL continue.
Quarter 3 Report Cards for Grades 1-12 have been uploaded into Home Access Center, or HAC.. These grades are reflective of work completed through March 12th, our last day of on-campus classes.

The organization will be at every elementary school, the middle school, the high school campus, and at the Academy. In light of the violent threat made against schools in Arkansas, the North Little Rock School District is taking extra steps to ensure that each campus remains a safe and healthy environment for everyone. We maintain communication with law enforcement, who will have a presence at every campus on Thursday, August 29. The safety of our students and staff is top priority in the North Little Rock School District.
Please be mindful of adjusted start and end times for elementary and high schools, beginning next Tuesday (9/3).
Elementary: 7:50 a.m.-2:40 p.m.
High: 8:25 a.m.-3:40 p.m.
Middle school times will remain the same: 8:00 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
After assessing transportation issues during the first week of school, the district has adjusted school start and end times. The new times will take effect on 9/3.

The district is aware of flooding in a number of areas. We ask that you use extreme caution as safety is top priority. Our transportation department is making sure students get to school safely, although there will be some delays. Tardies will be excused today as a result of the flooding. Thank you for understanding.
Congrats to Crestwood on winning the district’s elementary Math Wars! Competition was fierce with 5 teams in the 2nd tiebreaker for the day. After the final question, Crestwood’s Team One won and took home the traveling trophy. Congratulations to the following team members: Chloe Dial, Addison Hilliard, Team Captain J. D. Smith, Noah Heard, Jayden Riggin, Jalynn Brown, and Blaine Wood.
Crestwood staff canvassed the community Friday afternoon around the school. Staff members chatted with neighbors and handed out flyers about Crestwood events and programs.

Amboy, Crestwood, Meadow Park, NLR Center of Excellence, and NLRMS were recognized by the U of A’s College of Education and Health Professions for significant growth on the ACT Aspire last school year. The leaders of those schools were recognized at tonight’s board meeting.

Pumpkin Learning with 2nd Grade classes at Crestwood!

Crestwood Elementary will be presenting a Veterans' Day Program on Friday, November 9, 2018, at 8:30 AM. The program will be followed by a reception to honor those who have served or are currently serving our country. All veterans and their families are invited to attend.

Razorback Tailgate dance
There will be a Razorback/Tailgate dance for 3rd through 5th grade students on September 28th from 6:00-7:30. This is also a fundraiser for the 5th graders going to sea camp. Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the last day they will be taking preorders for tickets to the dance for $10. Entrance will be $15 Friday with no ticket.

Dogtown Derby
The Dogtown Derby is a project by the EAST Initiative at NLR Middle School. The 5th grade Quest students has built Crestwood’s derby car and will race it in the derby. Come out and cheer for the 5th grade Quest team! The Derby is this Saturday, October 28, at 8:30 on the Main Street Bridge!

Monster Bash
Sea Camp is sponsoring a Monster Bash on Thursday, October 26 from 6:00 – 7:30 in the cafeteria for 3rd through 5th grades. Tickets are $10 if purchased in advance or $12 at the door. Tickets include pizza and a drink. Wear your costume for a night of Halloween fun!
